Ed Ruscha II

Since learning that Ed Ruscha will represent the U.S. at the Venice Biennale next summer I've been spending some time looking at his work. This has helped me to figure out some of my paintings, like this one, which not many people have responded to very well (a few have). Thanks Ed Ruscha, for giving me so many good ideas and helping me figure out what I'm doing!

Helpful Conversation Hint: The correct pronunciation is "Rew-shay".

Question: Is this really you?

It's only by keeping his photographic work in mind that I find much joy looking at most of his paintings.
Also, I've always thought that the Sad Sack was your very best work. Is it somehow running through my "Roosh-ah" filter? Maybe some filter I've unconsciously developed for your work, even with my limited exposure to it.
I think it mostly has to do with my associations of Sad Sack & Mike Kelley. I've been trained- sad sack=good art.
Yes it's really me
