The 24x24 painting sold.

My experience has been that my small work usually sells better than larger, and typically in mupltiples of three or four, but this time the opposite was true.

While sales are great, there's also a cumulative effect of having your work seen at the fairs: the Armory of satellite fairs in NY, the LA Art Fair, Chicago, the Miami fairs. Better for you if the work is seen in more than one venue. Collectors, curators, dealers, other artists make the rounds, and when they see the work of an artist repeatedly over time, there's an imprint. You introduce yourself and they say, "Oh, I know your work." It makes your work--the part that has you promoting yourself and getting your art out into the world--that much easier.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8694556.post-41074427944599825772007-12-26T15:31:00.000-05:002007-12-26T15:31:00.000-05:00Martin, wasn't sure where to put this, but Merry C...Martin, wasn't sure where to put this, but Merry Christmas to you too. I've really enjoyed your blog since discovering it a year (?) or so ago. You are breath of fresh air -- no bored elitism, cynical nothing-means-anything pronouncements, or insider name-dropping. You are generous (even when you don't like something) and passionate. Plus, you're pretty funny. And, oh yeah, I love your work.Nomi Lubinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07662026175506202868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8694556.post-32953483935554940602007-12-26T13:22:00.000-05:002007-12-26T13:22:00.000-05:002 pieces, 1 gallery at 1 fair, 0 sold2 pieces, 1 gallery at 1 fair, 0 soldAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8694556.post-76932656732822806492007-12-25T23:58:00.000-05:002007-12-25T23:58:00.000-05:004 pieces - 2 fairs - 0 sold4 pieces - 2 fairs - 0 soldAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8694556.post-43261090923648147712007-12-25T11:59:00.000-05:002007-12-25T11:59:00.000-05:00first faironetwo zerofalse startfirst fair

one

two

zero

false startAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8694556.post-40193244585891362492007-12-25T08:30:00.000-05:002007-12-25T08:30:00.000-05:00No pieces, no galleries (though I have one, appare...No pieces, no galleries (though I have one, apparently), no fairs.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8694556.post-24800942583492920202007-12-24T21:56:00.000-05:002007-12-24T21:56:00.000-05:00Anon 8:23I am glad my reverse psychology worked.
