BADASS Judith Braun, with Gretchen and Meadow.
Judith enraptured by Miles.
paddy tweet paddy tweet fast as you can.
TV PARTY - the show was better than I expected... very funny... the editing was good.
JUDGES - china chow who cares... bill powers looked like a cross between perez hilton and tweedle dee... simon d. he reminds me of the nurse shark that shark that skims along at the bottom... the other one rohatyn was bland and unmemorable.
ARTISTS - my current faves are Judith, John P., Miles, Erik. that clown painting was not the worst piece at all!!! those judges are tards... that dude mark is a creepy clown, and trapped in that palette framed by the easel was a reference to being made-up framed and presented by 'Work of Art'... it was like General Zod trapped in the Phantom Zone as it goes spinning off into space. look at all the portraits... clown is in the top three for sure.
hey judges - Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Untitled (Portrait of Ross in L.A.), 1991, Louise Bourgeois, Torso Self-Portrait, 1962-63, David Hammons, Esquire (or John Henry), 1990... etc etc blah blah blah (not that Nao's piece was any good).
spilling the beans???
NEXT i want to see Roberta Smith go on Wife Swap.

Ed Clark, Red, Black and Blue Movement, 2009. Nice discussion of Ed Clark in the comments of this 12/15/08 post.
African American Abstract Masters, at Anita Shapolsky Gallery, through April 24. There is a concurrent show at Wilmer Jennings Gallery at Kenkeleba... I'll post some photos of that next week. All the work - plus or minus a few pieces - will be shown together in November at Opalka Gallery in Albany.
Joe Overstreet, Black Star Line, 1990.
Betty Blayton and Joe Overstreet. Blayton had this cool piece at a show in Albany.
The exhibition space is Anita's home.
Anita Shapolsky... getting ready to go to the fair.
Joe Overstreet, Pearl River, 2003.
Painted and collaged on screen mesh... like that big piece in the excellent Zwirner show... the painted lines and collage elements cast shadows on the wall.
Shazam... paint fills in the squares and creates a zig-zag lightning bolt line.

Local painter Ron Johnson interviews Christian Bonnefoi in the current issue of NYArts Magazine.
Above is an image of one of Ron's paintings from last year, of which I'm a very big fan. It was dissapointing to see his latest at Reynolds Gallery earlier this summer. The new stuff was all the same shape and size, very generic, formulaic. No more pools of color, no canvas strips, no oily creepiness. Only one of them still had his glam vampire palette. What happened?
I hope those were just an experiment in monotony and the good stuff comes back.
