Wouldn't it be more trenchant to have a photo of yourself with one of her works,if you are such a fan?I think it really cheapens art to have all this paparazzi stuff around it-and seems a bit juvenile,as well.
Yes art should remain pure. My goodness. How dare ANABA muddy the waters! Art has nothing to do with the cult of celebrity. We are all pure aesthetes. There is no hierarchy in art. There are no big name artists or blue chip galleries or museum retrospectives, or gaudy top 100 lists, or mind bogglingly high auction prices. ANABA should be ashnamed of itself. What a freaking whore you are Martin!
you will see lots of pictures of art on this blog... HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS... and maybe a dozen or so of me with other people.
This is true, of course.
I'm not an art blog expert, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this is one of the most friendly, most interesting and least "cheap" ones around.
don't know about Mr. Saltz yet, but Roberta Smith and Peter Schjeldahl were both previewing the MOMA show this past friday, can't wait to hear what they have to say....
I'm not entirely a fan but I think she is often extremely original. She's made some very, unique and singular images. She's a little like Edvard Munch for me in terms of both pros and cons.
Congratulations! That's exciting.
ReplyDeleteYou're awfully nice for such a trouble-making name-dropper.
marlene dumas is an anaba *star*... there is no way i can play it cool with marlene dumas.
ReplyDeleteDumas is below-average and overhyped.
ReplyDeleteShe is second-rate.
