The second annual sculpture something is accepting proposals. I'm not sure what it is called now. The first one was called 2005 Sculpture Invitational, but this one might be called Richmond Outdoor Exhibition or 2006 Richmond Outdoor Sculpture - I'm just not sure. Here is all the entry information.
The deadline is March 1st!!!
First year Sculpture Invitational posts - here, here, here, and here - and the Sculpture Invitational website is here.
PS - hey, anonymous militant artist ladies, look at the bad sign I wrote about in this initial Sculpture Invitational post from last year. Solidarity!
I think that it's unofficially the Richmond Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition. Last year it was an Invitational for promotional purposes and to set the tone (I believe), this year I believe we want to be more expansive and see what the art community may have in mind.
ReplyDeleteIt should be a lot of fun, I really enjoyed last year - I'm not sure if I should really comment on the numerous crossings of Commerce road, but I think that all added to the adventurous spirit of the troops that participated. Hopefully this year proves to be less of an experiment in Darwinism of the general public, but a fair share of that will be up to what the artists propose! As far as the Exhibition goes, many of us are becoming more assertive in looking for younger views and more dynamic ideas; there's a few of us pushing for new media angles within the ranks, and of course more traditional approaches are going to be represented as well. Everyone who can participate, definately should!. Maybe we can get an ordinance from the city to litter the streets with social sculpture... hmm.

PS. ArtSpace is going to be having a show over at the Richmond Public Library hung by the end of this week. I'll have some work up, even though I'm going to admit that I wasn't really prepared for this show. Yaaaay.
the sculpture thing looks to be open to anybody. i don't think there is a fee, so you should go ahead and apply.
