Five months later, my White Columns page has finally been erased. That's okay, I can do it again.

Also erased... the history of White Columns exhibitions prior to Matthew's tenure. Are those gone for good? Hope not.

I can't remember how far back those archived exhibitions went, but when I made this post last year I was able to research and link to all of the Lauren Ross-curated exhibitions (scroll down to the second half of the post).

Francois Dallegret

Francois Dallegret's 1966 vision of the artist of the future - "a man-in-space who instead of making concrete art objects sends forth electrical emanations..."

Dallegret diagrammed something called a High Art Space Way Complex, the legend of which explains that the Electro-Structural Overlapping Circulatory System "allows intensive chance contact between artist-senders and people-receivers".


"this image shows the artist beaming the beginnings of an electric environment at an art appreciator; the latter is called a collector because he collects - receives - the artist's waves."


Art in America, March-April 1966 - "projecting electric emanations into space with the purpose of creating an environment."

"Often I dreamed, how was Tbilisi 150 or 200 years ago? Living in the oldest part of Tbilisi, it was quite easy to imagine it myself, as the district is barely touched, but falling apart these days from lack of any repairs. This will change very soon with the implimentation of govermental and private reconstruction programmes. There is a good chance, that what you see here does not exist anymore, except in our imagination and in history. I worked over the last 3 winter month on digital collages on a fictional story about an imaginary horse thief in Old Tbilisi. I tried to catch my private romantic vision of this quarter. I tried to remember the streets and their living inhabitants, the many families from all different origins living in and around Sayat-Nova-Street and to work on artistic problems in my collages. But it became something else"
