Tyler Green comes of as crazy. How can he suggest that James "defends" Viveros-Faunes's "behavior" when the one thing everyone agrees on is that he hadn't actually done anything yet just that he had the potential for a future conflict of interest. If anything his first reviews suggested that he wasn't exactly going with the flow. He panned "Unmonumental" even though the group consensus or maybe in truth goodwill for the Museum had been generally laudatory. I remember him as being relatively "clean" when he wrote for New York Press. Often writing about sort of obscure out of the way shows where I doubt he knew the artist as a student or friend.

holy crap, you should do a site that focuses on your mom's cooking. I mean, this deep political artrigue is fun n' all, but what about pasta? grits? and waffles??? what about waffles????

I just got back from the hunter open studios. Yep, sorry... Meridith's already berated me, ease up, huh?

Oh, Hunter's back on top. Like you didn't know. Hunter always falls in line with the Asian arts economy. It's as if the whole giant chunk of Manhattan is in a bubble, 35th st. to 43rd, there's no touching it. Yashua Klos, awesome, and has an opening at Christopher Henry Gallery on the 17th. And Scotty the hotty with the naughty body's thesis show's right around the corner, and it spins. Time for another visit Martin. That, or give up the painting, you know the one. I ain't gonna stop writing nonsensical comments until I have it.

Kelli, I'd suggest you read my post about the CVF conflict (http://www.artsjournal.com/man/2008/01/the_vvviverosfaune_ethical_tra.html) and my letter to the Rail. I believe both writings address the points you raise.

Tyler I read the interview you did with CVF. I thought that was really good. In the interview it seemed like he was actually trying to position himself as an alternative critical voice. It seemed sincere? I don't know if I hate Terence Koh as much as he does but the critical comparisons between Koh and David Wojnarowicz for instance are a joke. I'm wondering what happened in between that interview and the later brouhaha. Do you think his intent was actually sincere of just vague negativity? And if it was sincere aren't there many more deserving targets of these criticisms? People with more substantial connections than an emerging artists fair as well as people whose conflicts of interest actually have popped up in their writing repeatedly.
